Another reorganisation at WC

8.28.00am GMT Mon 21st Dec 2009

After eight months of operation Wiltshire Council (WC) has undertaken another reorganisation in an attempt to save money.

The timetable for the merger of "Transport Environment and Leisure" and "Economic Development Planning and Housing" into a new "Department of Neighbourhood and Planning" took a significant step forward this week with the appointment of the Corporate Director for this service. Further to the meeting of the Officer Appointments Committee and the Senior Officers Employment Sub Committee it has been confirmed that Mark Boden has been appointed to the role of corporate director of Neighbourhood and Planning and that George Batten will be quitting the council in March.

Boden will be taking up his new role officially from 22 December. The departments of TEL and EDPH will remain in place until April 2010 when the new department will be formed.

In the Directorate of Neighbourhood and Planning there are three new service director posts; Director of Neighbourhood Services, Director of Strategic Services and Director of Waste Management Services. The departments of Housing, Development and Economy and Enterprise remain the same. Within the Directorate of Public Health, managed by Maggie Rae a new service director post will be created called Director of Public Protection.
