It turns out that the Lib Dem leader is not the only "Clegg" to have grown a bright and positive vision for the future! 10-year-old Hannah Clegg from Malmesbury has been made a finalist in the Royal Horticultural Society's national competition to design a garden for the 2012 Olympics in East London; and local MEP Graham Watson is urging everyone to support the only finalist from the West.

The Year 6 pupil from Sherston Primary School has designed a half-acre garden for the site which incorporates the best of British gardens, including tunnels of scented English roses and traditional vegetable patches.

There is also a "Wishing Tree", where visitors to the garden (certain to include many Olympic hopefuls) can write down their dreams and ambitions and tie them to the branches of the tree.

Graham Watson said;

"I think Hannah's design is wonderful. She has managed to infuse a classic British garden with the spirit of the Olympics and practical modern living. It's outstanding for a girl of her age!"

"I would urge everyone to take a look at her design and vote for it on the RHS website."

Voting closes on 30 October, so you only have a few days to register your vote at http://www.rhs.org.uk/Competitions/Great-British-Garden-Competition/Child-entry--Hannah-Clegg.
