The Independents gained the Southwick seat from the Conservatives, who slipped into third place behind the LibDems.

Francis Morland - Independent 385

Gordon King - Liberal Democrat 315

Tory - 273

UKIP - 61

Turnout was 30.66%.

Congratulations to Francis who joins the now eight-strong Independent Group on the council.

The Conservative majority over all other parties drops from 26 to 24.

In town council elections held on the same day there were wins for Liberal Democrat candidates Stephen Walls in Wootton Bassett, Peter Dauncey in Melksham and Lorraine Roberts-Rance in Chippenham. The only success for the Conservatives was in Calne.
