Cllr Isabel Langsford fights for cleaner pathways12.00.00am GMT Sat 28th Feb 2009
Corsham Town Councillor Isabel Langsford yesterday met with concerned parents to discuss the problem of dog fouling along a local school route: Isabel said: "A number of Corsham residents have come to me recently to complain about the problem of dog-fouling. The pavements and paths from Springfield through to Pound Pill are particularly badly affected, and these are routes which parents use when walking their children to and from school. Parents and residents are telling me that they are disgusted with the lack of thought that a few, irresponsible, dog-owners have. "I want to raise awareness that, not only is it a health hazard and offensive, it is also an Offence. " Local primary school teacher Sara Stone said: "As a mum and a teacher at Corsham Primary School, I am very concerned about the quantity of dogs' mess on the footpaths between the school and the leisure centre. Classes of children walk along these paths every week to get to there swimming lessons. They often step in dogs' mess and consequently this can be brought into the school by accident. This is a serious health hazard."
