Simon Hughes MP - takes the chair

Simon Hughes MP, President of the Liberal Democrat came to North Wiltshire on Friday to lend his support to Duncan Hames' campaign to be the first Member of Parliament for the new Chippenham constituency. Simon visited Headways on the Bridge in Chippenham, to meet the women behind a successful new business in the town. He and Duncan discussed the challenges facing our market towns, and heard suggestions for how Chippenham's town centre can be defended from pressures caused by both national planning policies and out-of-town shopping centres.

Simon gave an exclusive interview with The Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News about the Liberal Democrats' prospects in this key new constituency. You should find it in Friday 1st December's paper, and on-line following the link below.

Later in the day Simon addresses the Inaugural General Meeting of Chippenham constituency Liberal Democrats, and spoke to over 100 supporters at the North Wiltshire Lib Dem Annual Dinner in Calne.
