"There is still more to do, to help sustain the economy of our market towns." says Cllr Duncan Hames.

Duncan Hames, who first joined the South West of England Regional Development Agency in 2003, is one of the board members who bring experience of local government to the agency, among their other roles. He is a member of the agency's Audit Committee, was one of a group of board members who oversaw the recent revision of the Regional Economic Strategy, and also represents the agency on the board of Culture South West.

"The Regional Development Agency has made a significant contribution to regeneration in this part of the region, including funding for the Master-planning of Trowbridge which underpins the Transforming Trowbridge project, and most recently the multi-million pound investment in the ABRO site in Warminster. However there is still more to do, to help sustain the economy of our market towns, for local businesses to continue to rise to the challenge of global competition, and in understanding how to achieve economic success within environmental limits." observed Cllr Hames.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue my small part in that work." he added.
