Local Lib Dems will vote to choose new party leader

All members of the Liberal Democrats in West Wiltshire and Mere will get to cast their vote as the party choose a new leader to succeed Charles Kennedy. As a democratic party, the Liberal Democrats choose their leader on the basis of 'One Member, One Vote' were each local member's vote counts just as much as a Member of Parliament's.

Ballot papers are set to go out early next month, giving members a choice between the three declared candidates:

Sir Menzies Campbell QC MP

Simon Hughes MP

Chris Huhne MP

There will be a local party meeting to discuss the leadership election at 7.30pm on Saturday 18th February at Steeple Aston Village Hall. All members and supporter are welcome. For more information contact Cllr Duncan Hames.
