"The new affordable housing bid is a great deal for West Wiltshire." says Cllr Hames.

Action to tackle the affordable housing crisis in our part of the country took a major step forward tonight (Tuesday 19 July 2005).

West Wiltshire District Councillors voted to support the next stage of the local bid for £70million of central government funding for affordable homes in West Wiltshire. Speaking in the debate, Cllr Hames said:

"This project is complex and will not be easy, but it is now affordable and represents great value for money for West Wiltshire. There are other measures that could be taken to tackle the desperate shortage of affordable homes in the district but none can have an impact on the scale of this scheme. It has my full support."
