Post Office Closures: Every Little Hurts1.36.01pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 11th Aug 2004
Post Office campaigners in West Wiltshire took their campaign national today, when they joined similar groups across the country on a new website. "The name of the website: http://www.everylittlehurts.org.uk is intended to remind Tesco that getting rid of Post Offices to make more room for yoghurts is at odds with their own marketing messages. For many of their customers having a post office in store helps a lot more than just a little." Explains Cllr Duncan Hames. Tesco intends to remove the Post Offices in the One Stop stores at Warminster Common and Brook Road, Trowbridge that it bought earlier this year. "Tesco should think about the needs of the communities near their new stores. Many senior citizens or people with young children rely on local Post Offices." added Cllr Graham Hedley. It is hoped that by linking up with other groups, campaigners will have more success in getting Tesco to listen and re-think their closure plans.
