Supporting Economic Growth
-
Published on Sunday 20th February 2011
One of the biggest challenges facing our communities in the next few years will be that of unemployment.
The number of unemployed is set to reach record levels, particularly for younger people.
Liberal Democrats are committed to working with local employers, both large and small, to encourage the take up of apprenticeships to encourage enhanced training and job opportunities for all.
Our proposed ring-fenced training fund of £250k will support funding training fees for new apprentice positions offered by employers for jobs in Wiltshire to people who live in Wiltshire.
The fund will be managed to especially support small and medium sized business to grow. By covering the costs of training for new apprentices we will help employers to develop their business and provide job opportunities at the same time.
Our Proposed AmendmentsSupporting Economic Growth and Helping Prevent Youth Unemployment in Wiltshire£0.250m investment in 2011/12 to support employers increase the number of Apprentices in Wiltshire. This is an investment in future growth and young people in Wiltshire. Enabling small and medium business to train apprentices without taking on the burden of additional training fees. |
Our increased funding will:
- Provide much needed support for employers to pay training fees for new apprentices
- Only be available for posts based in Wiltshire, and for people who live in Wiltshire.
- Contribute towards the economic growth and sustainability of our communities
